Race Day Weather Forecast
Last Updated: Friday 11/7/2025
Weather Update:
We are anticipating dry winter running conditions for the 2025 Good Life Halfsy. Race start temperatures are anticipated to be in the 20s/30’s with windchill and only rising into the 30s/40’s later during and after the race. Winds are anticipated to be consistently in the mid to high teens. It’s looking to sunny. Click here for a current weather forecast.
Here are a few notes about running in cold and windy weather and how to best prepare for race day.
How to prepare for cold and windy weather on race day?
- Stick to Your Start Line Arrival Plan: We are counting on all runners to use the arrival plan they selected when registering. Those that selected using the shuttle buses should plan on using the shuttle buses. Those that selected getting dropped off should plan to be dropped off and have their drop-off vehicle depart. This will help to ensure we have enough parking at the start line. We will access to indoor warming facilities at Lincoln East High School.
- Choose Clothing Layers: Follow the weather forecast and and be prepared with your layers. Think about your warm running layers, but also the layers you will wear before the race and those that you want access to after the race. Choose synthetic base layers over cotton, and plan to have a wind layer, insulating layer and running hat and gloves for warmth and ear and hand protection. Protip: Remember, you can wear discardable layers and even a trash bag right up until the start of the race and shed them at race start time or shortly after. Shedded layers will be collected and donated.
- Plan Your Checked Bag: Have a plan for your gear check bag. Remember, you can send ahead dry layers to the finish line using the race’s bag check and bag claim system. You will receive your gear check bag at packet pickup.
- Start Line Shelter: At the start line, runners will have access to indoor facilities at Lincoln East. All gyms will be open. This may especially be useful for runners getting dropped off or taking the shuttle buses. Runners that drive will also have access to their vehicles.
- Finish Line Shelter: At the finish line, runners will have access to Lincoln Station as well as local businesses on Canopy Street and in the Railyard. Return shuttles and vehicles are also great warming shelters. All runners will be provided a finish line heat/solar/space blanket.
- Stay Hydrated: Stay hydrated in the day’s leading up to the race. Then on race day, obey your thirst and drink when your mouth is dry and when you feel the need to drink. Take advantage of the aid stations and take in water and electrolyte replacement drinks on the course and at the finish line.
- Nutrition: Nutrition plays an important role in cool/cold weather. Have a plan for before, during, and after the race. Bring energy gels for during the race.
- Course Medical Resources: In the event of an emergency, dial 911. Medical resources and assistance are available at the race’s start, finish, and roving around the course. Ask a course monitor or aid station worker for assistance. If you need assistance, please notify the nearest medical personnel or event volunteer.
Thank you! We know everyone has trained hard and worked hard for race day. Let’s have a great day of running! We look forward to seeing you Sunday, November 9th, 2025 for an 8:30 AM start time.
Best of luck to all runners,
